Career-Steps Ltd was created by me, Andy Thomson, to offer independent skills management and consulting services, drawing on decades of professional experience delivering L&D solutions around IT, software development and business change.
I engage comfortably with engineers and professionals individually, as well as with CIOs and Heads of Functions who need to drive forward their teams' capabilities.
Working in-person or on-screen, I offer a choice of approaches to planning skills development that cover technical, professional and personal skills.
I first came across the SFIA skills framework in 2007 and immediately could see its value for capturing and benchmarking essential, transferable skills. I am a SFIA Accredited Consultant and since 2010 I've been Chair of the SFIA Council. I have participated in the 3-yearly SFIA updates since 2008 (v4) and I'm on the Design Authority board for SFIA 8, planned for Q3 2021.
